Cork Minor Hurling 2023

A deserved win for the Glen in the end. They were extremely strong at 6, 8,9 and 11. MT Brosnan is a savage player for 15.
Douglas looked dangerous early on but faded and some of the wides definitely knocked the confidence out of them.

Some great individual talent on display and great heart from the Glen which is great to see given the hammering the club has gotten in recent weeks
Michael Tadgh Brosnan must surely have roots in West Cork or Kerry
Some cracking goals and long range scores
hopefully they will turn the tide for Glen
As was commented previously Douglas have very poor record bring their underage players through but Ronan Dooley looks a great prospect, be a shame if he was let slide

Other than MT Brosnan, who should develop into a serious minor player, Conor McCarthy looked the most accomplished player on view to these eyes.

Scrappy game - the Glen deserved it. Very strong through the middle of the field. MT Brosnan is a huge prospect. Douglas full back line looked very impressive till Walsh got on top at the end. Not enough of the Douglas forwards fired. Delighted for the Glen - tough year for em.

Was the Glen Captain Diarmuid Wall involved with Cork Minors this year? Always seems to be the leading man but dont recall seeing him with Cork

Diarmuid was involved, however he mainly didn't make the 24 but was on the extended panel.

Michael Tadhg Brosnan, Conor McCarthy, Diarmuid Wall and Ronan Dooley are 4 players who deserve massive kudos for their performances last night but I was also very impressed with Cillian Connolly at right half-back for the Glen, he did the simple things well and is a no nonsense tough defender. He had a good tussle with Douglas' big danger man Cathal Hallihan who scored a goal when he switched to full-forward. Hallihan was a loss through injury to Cork minors this year. The Glen's Cian Walsh was also a loss but his fitness levels for hurling seems to have gone down a lot due to his rugby commitments, he still scored a good goal. The game overall was below par and it wasn't helped by a fuss pot of a referee.

The Premier 2 final between Killeagh and Shandrum was in contrast a very good match and well refereed. Barry Walsh stole the show and not far behind him was Johnny Murphy but Ben Walsh, Sean Meade and Ben Geary with his late cameo were other excellent performers. Killeagh deserved their victory but a big factor against Shandrum was the loss of Chris Dunne due to injury after only 14 minutes.
