Cork Hurlers - Part 2

Hel

The games of the 80s and 90s could not be beat for atmosphere. Both Football and Hurling. And the trains to Cork, or Dublin for the big match.

Happy days. Cork were doing well in both codes and as a single man with few responsibilities we travelled the country. Well remember organising bus trips down to Killarney for various games too and stopping in various spots on the way back - train was too much of a palaver for Killarney though it was ideal for Thurles and Dublin. You'd always get a ticket in the NorthStar(?) opposite the station. Brilliant days and though it must have rained some of the time the memories were of sunny days, big crowds, lots of beers, and great camaraderie and craic. And incessant games of Don either on the train on the way up, in the pubs on the way back, or even on the terrace beforehand.

Remember 1987 draw in the hurling semi final 2 draws in both munster finals draw in the football semi final and beaten in the final.Have to say it was a great year with the highlight of the footballers winning in killarney.

Ye could do a lot worse than throwing in young Joyce centre back flaking hurler unfair to fire him into the full back line with no cover in front of him
