Cork Hurlers - Part 2

As well as that, Connolly takes a lot of attention away from Hayes and Hoggy. Tipp have nightmares on what he did to them in Thurles last year. I agree… the full forward line of Hayes, Connolly and Hoggy is the Holy Trinity and can’t be broken up. Dalton is good out on the half forward line, his long range points are a joy to watch, Barrett back to his best at center forward and harnedy on the other wing! Fitz and Tom midfield… to me looks like best option all round!
What about Dalton instead of Hoggie? [head down, dives into bushes for cover]

I think it’s great that the podcasts are all talking about Cork now. It’s amusing when the ones that despise Cork with a passion have to find flaws. They’re picking holes in the Tipp performance and talking about sloppiness and showboating. The fact we won by 15 points is not mentioned!!

I’m very happy with pretty much everything about the panel this year but I’d probably prefer to see a fit O Brien at 7 for the Limerick game. I’m good with whatever selection is made 8-15 and it’s a tough call if they’re all fit and ready to go.?
It's actually hard to judge Cork at the moment I think.

Awesome for 35 minutes v Clare. Steadied the ship and were solid for another 15 mins in the 2cd half before having a collapse after being reduced to 14 and some ill advised substitutions. Then had the character to pull out 1 last big play and force a draw.

Nothing to be taken from the game last Sunday except Cork were ruthless and had the game over after 19 mins.

I wouldn't read much into the "showboating" or messing in the 2cd half. I thought Johnny Murphy was giving Tipp very soft pity frees and the whole atmosphere was flat and dead by that stage and didn't feel like championship. Probably would have liked to see Cork stick a few more points between the 40th and 55th minute instead of overplaying but we finally got a bounce off our bench and finished strong.

Only real complaints I'd have would be how flat the stadium was after we blitzed them and I got a shite chicken burger inside the stadium 😂

I reckon the O Brien v Colman debate and the Barrett v Dalton v Connolly debate will only be decided behind closed doors and not from what we saw in the 2 games to date.

Great to have Seamie back in form. And great to see Robbie come on and look busy. Ditto with Tommy O Connell.

I would hate to drop Connolly. He’s got a penchant for doing the unexpected, and when he gets the ball.., only a goal is on his mind. He had one bad outing against Tipp… but was very good against Clare, despite being provoked by Hogan. Ryan has a pleasant problem on his hands on who to pick. As regards this battling before the game began.,, we saw it in Cork vs Clare in the noughties (Semplegate?) and of course from the Aussies in the international rules games. It’s called getting into the head of your opponent! It

It’s a tough one. For me it’s DF to midfield with ET giving way but I can see other arguments. The one I have no time for is leaving Barrett on the bench. Dalton and Barrett have to start for me especially against Limerick.

Our selectors have tough calls for the next match.

Fitzy has been a revelation at 11. Dalton was superb, his long range frees are a huge plus. He must start. Connolly has the X factor and I'd always start him.

Pat Ryan won't want to move Fitzy but I don't think he has any choice especially as Twomey hasn't been brilliant.

Big call between Coleman and O Brien. I dunno about this one. Probably boils down to how lads are going in training.

Our defence has been a bit suspect in the 2 games. Far too many scoring opportunities given up

Pat Ryan confirmed what was posted about Robbie O Flynn flying in training. He backed it up on Sunday. Is he in the frame to start ? But can't leave anyone out
ROF on form would be exactly what the forward line needs as an impact sub.

If COB is fully healthy and going well in training, I think he compliments a move of DF to midfield nicely. Even as a big Coleman supporter, I think we need to be defensive minded at 7 if we take ET out.

Very good point about Twomey being more defensive than Fitzy.

Dalton is nailed on to start v Limerick. He was MOTM and his long range scoring is important.

Harnedy is back to his best and is a starter.

Barrett has the pace to ensure he starts.

I don't see Pat Ryan changing the FF line so Connolly starts.

Very likely Twomey drops to bench.

The only call is Coleman v O Brien. That's 50:50 IMO. probably who does better in training

I think Coleman, as the current holder will start, but is likely to be hooked at some stage

I get PR won’t want to put all his eggs in the one Wahfud basket but it’s not vital that we beat Limerick in Limerick, it is vital that we blood players in white-hot games before knockout kicks in to see how they perform under real pressure.
For that reason I can see Cahalane getting some game time in Limerick too
