Cork Hurlers - Part 2

Would you play Conlon.Kelly and O Donnell on 13 or 24 team.?
Kelly couldn’t get out of Brian Murphy’s pocket in 2013 and was man of the match in 2024. Shane O’Donnell started one game in 2013 and will be hurler of the year in 2024 and if there’s been a fall off in Conlon’s performance I haven’t noticed it.

Just pointing out the bullshit of your point re 13 teams being hammered by 24 teams.Childish

Lads, Cork hit 1-29 in normal time in that all Ireland final.

If that’s not turning up and not performing what do we call 2021? This is ridiculous revisionism. A call or two the other way by the referee and Cork win and everyone says they got everything right.

I don’t mind the suggestion that Clare were marginally the better side on the day. They usually beat us by a point or two wherever we play so I’ve no argument with that, but Cork dominated the first quarter and in the second half of normal time when they were under the cosh still managed to manufacture four more scores than Clare. Cork were also the better team for most of extra time.

Both teams are outstanding teams who played very well and it was one of the best 2 or 3 finals most observers have ever seen. Clare 2024 would beat Clare 2013 by a score a man and so would Cork 2024 beat Cork 2013.
It was a very exciting game, one of the most exciting finals in a while.
I don’t know what you are basing your view on as even the group themselves acknowledges the day didn’t go to plan. It was incredible we were still in it.
Not many Cork players played to their normal standard not to mind lift it again for the final. Most players were in the 6/7 out of 10 range.

Of course it didn’t go to plan, the plan one would assume at least was to win the All-Ireland.

I’m basing it on hitting 1-29 in a final and being neck and neck with the winners, an excellent team, for 90 minutes. A hell of a lot of stuff has to go right for that to happen. We’ve seen enough Cork teams misfire in All Ireland finals over the years across all grades to know what that looks like.

Christ almighty...take our beating. No wonder we are the laughing stock of the hurling counties.
Resorting to shirt pulling isnt a way of taking any beating. Discipline is key to players but unfortunately the GAA have agendas, Murphy throws out cards like confetti and in the AI final he can't give a 2nd yellow when it's warranted. It is a fact that Croke Park determine how each inter-county game is reffed, and finals are dictated more so by hierarchy than the other games. How many Cork goals have not been given compared to the other top hurling counties. Cork folk need to wake up to see why William Buckley's goal wasn't given or even considered in the Munster U-20 final.

In my place of work I meet loads from other counties who praised Cork saying they were in the AI final on merit and again afterwards in defeat, unlike some muppets on here stating we were lucky to get to Croker, many of them ejits stated Cork would win handy before the final. One woman who is the daughter of a former Limerick hurler stated to me that Brian Lohan having his say with the ref and umpires at half-time was disgraceful and shouldn't be allowed and she referred to Pat Ryan as a gent.

How come there isn't a geek from our county board or management on any issue and a former Limerick & Tipp player such as Conor O'Donovan is taking the hand pass issue to Congress?

We are the laughing stock alright for putting up with crap but as I stated on here already it is very likely nothing is going to change.

I think when we recently took a motion to congress it allegedly was worded poorly or in such a way that it wasn’t going to pass, even though it was a perceived slam dunk beforehand allegedly.
Being defeated at congress isn’t great but for sloppy wording is a serious kick in the arse.

Our own Donal Og ridiculed Conor o Donovan's proposal on tv.

Isn't that only a means of the Co. board showing they are concerned when really in their book there are far more important matters, more of a deliberate slam dunk.

I recall their wording was well thought out with the help of legal advice when they defended against the players strikes even on player welfare issues.

I believe Christy Ring took a motion to congress against the use of red & yellow cards in our games which was also defeated. I just hope Conor O'Donovan has far greater success but I believe the most we will see is a tweak in the rule so interpretations and loopholes will stay to suit themselves as usual.
