Cork Hurlers - Part 2

Anthony Daly trying to feed the narrative that cork hurling public are losing the run of themselves and over-confident is laughable.

Mostly based on a conversation he had with a marquee company

“Apparently it’s like that in Cork – bananas. Liam Ruttle from Party Marquees who put up the marquee here for the podcast said that there was no comparison between the level of calm up here and the mad hype below in Cork.â€

They’re really trying to make themselves the underdog. Cork is a bigger county with a bigger demand for tickets. That’s not a secret.

“The general sense I get from Cork people is that they fully expect to win.â€

Anyone I’ve been talking to is nervous as fuck tbh.

The predictions across the media are probably leaning towards Clare if anything.

Daly tips Clare to win. That’s not very underdoggy!!
Mr Daly is, what my long dead mother would have delightfully said, a gligin.

Dalo is a twat, his podcast is rubbish and he’s the 2nd worst analyst in the game behind Joe Canning & Shane Dowling who are equally awful.

I don’t believe any people who actually watch the game consistently down here are getting over hyped, any hurling people I know are calling it a 50/50 and are very nervous of Clare as am I.

You might have a few know nothing bangwagons getting carried away but they should be simply laughed at then ignored.

Some tickets trickled through at the last minute and I'm lucky enough to be going. Lads, can I be a bit of a fashionista and request that everybody wear red? None of those fashionably dark half-black 'away' shirts please. The reason I ask is that I think it might be making a difference. They need to look around and see bright red covering more than half the stadium. I've heard Eddie Brennan, John Mullane, and Jamsie O'Connor all refer to Cork's 16th man this week. O'Connor fervently hoping that we couldn't bring the same noise again because we wouldn't be in the majority. Lohan was even in the paper trying to rev up Clare fans. It's like they genuinely believe that Cork's fans can raise the performance of the team. It has entered their mindset and that's important. And I think they could be right. Cork's best performances have been in front of packed stadiums of fever pitched Cork fans.

If we can bring that noise, that passion, that hunger - bring it when the team is going well and when it isn't, I genuinely believe that we can help tip the scales.

That red jersey was born of revolution and raised from the ashes of a burned out city. To our grandfathers it represented the defiant emergence of a new National order from the county that suffered most during its genesis. And that's not 'Corkness,' it's simple historical fact. Lets remember who we are and show the country what our Gaelic identity still means to us. Lets wear the red with the pride it deserves, let it fire the passion that it did for the generations before us, help us rediscover who we were, and still are.

Safe travels to all. Please God, the famine finally ends.
I'm wearing my lucky alternate Cork white strip boy.
I got it this year and wore it first for the limerick game down the park.
You'd want to get a grip of yourself.

He's been at that shit for weeks, he thinks it's all part of his cute Clare persona that he's trying to adopt. Since they have limited tradition hes had to rob it from Kerry.
Most of Clare and Daly expect a repeat of 2013. If they get it, it won't be because of hysteria in Cork. Our camp is quiet as a mouse and going about its business. We have enough tradition and experience in the camp not to be thrown off by what a browl like Daly thinks is clever mindgames.
Any news on the homecoming? Is it Puic? if so thousands wont get it and will be dissapointed,
Couldn't care less about the homecoming.
I'll think about that after the game on Sunday.

Im more worried about tomorrow than I was for Limerick last week, nobody really expected us to win last week (well most of us anyway 😉) but this week there seems to be an acceptance that if we play well we will win. This worries me

Clare are the one team who have consistently put it up to Limerick over the last few years, they are a very solid side and have some real match winners up front. Limerick took us on as they always do but Clare will come with a different plan.

They know they cannot allow us space in our foward line, I expect they will withdraw Conlon to the D and give someone else a marking job on Barrett. McInerney will do the same on Dalton and Ryan will try put Seamus on the back foot with some rampaging runs fowards. If they do this how and who we use the as spare man will be crucial to the outcome

We will need to be as good if not better than we were against Limerick, and to me that was the best team performance I ever saw from a Cork team, if we are to overcome the banner

I think we will, Connolly for 2 goals and Cork by 3

Landers has done some publicity drive this week. Very hard guy to like, seems full of himself tbh. No wonder other counties have little love for Cork.

Less of that, fingers crossed the team perform tomorrow, if we perform and are still beaten, so be it but it will take a serious Clare effort.
