Cork Hurlers - Part 2

He adds so much pace and his ability to score goals ensures that he keeps defenders pinned back as they can't risk leaving him unmarked.
In general I thought the tactic of two in the full forward line worked well.

The thing I disliked most was the short sideline , it works sometimes but we used it all the time last Sunday and teams will learn to stifle that very quickly.
The short sideline was because there was no grass . Just sand. Was talking to one of the cork staff after the game and he said that to.me.

This might be petty but aside of being in the right place for both goals and stupidly getting sent of i would say Shane Kingston did almost nothing and i would always prefer him as a sub than a starter.
Ah cmere. He had to get himself into those positions to be in the right place. Its not luck. Kingston is a goal getter and Cork need fellas like that. Not sure how you can say a forward does nothing but still ends up with 2 goals. There are arguments that Kingston may not always be the best from the start but he is one of our best forwards at the moment and he deserves to start.

There is no denying he is in great form but sooner or later we will (hopefully not) need to bring some one on to turn the game and imho Shane is the ideal man.
4-17 is great scoring but 2-17 of that was got against Offaly and a terrible Clare team that night.
Last year semi he scored 0-07 as a sub and a goal in the final playing a full 70 mins i think.

I know what you're saying BB but watch the replay of the second goal from last week. Once Lehane makes the burst, Kingston sprints full pelt about 25 yards to be in position to tap in the rebound. He wasn't there by luck - he put himself there through intuition and then effort. He needs to start.

Good news now is that there are plenty of other lads who could come off the bench to make an impact - from young fellas like Connolly, O'Brien, Twomey & Power to older lads like Cadogan or maybe even Lehane if he doesn't start.

Shane has earned his place. Let others get ahead of him through performance if they're good enough. If we end up there we'll be in good shape.
