OMahony wasn't listed in the 26 last week either and only came in when Hurley was ruled out. So it may be another bit of tomfoolery with team sheets

He was listed as a standby player and therefore was no tomfoolery as he swapped in, standby players tog out and warm up and can be brought in up to throw in.
The team is the team at this stage and the subs will be as follows:
Deane for powter or Walsh after 50 minutes
Meehan for a defender at 65-68 minutes
Mcsweeney for the other of powter or Walsh after 60 minutes
Clancy for a defender after 65-68 minutes
Corbett after 55 minutes for jones
Hurley after either 50 minutes if we’re in trouble or on 60 minutes even if he is not fully fit

Cashman, cahalane won’t be used

Cathal O’ Mahony one of the few exciting players with something extra..was brought in v Tyrone..Why is he not on the panel?..We should also be using J. Cahalane and Cashman..nearly every other team is nurturing their 21 and 22 year olds..We need point kickers from distance and some players a bit different like J. Cahalane..

I got the train back up from Killarney after the Kerry game.

Happened to be sitting next to one of the (at the time) recently departed panelists. He threw his hat at it a few weeks beforehand

I don't want to name him because he was speaking in a personal capacity and had a few drinks on board. He wasn't mouthing or going off on one but you could sense his frustration and was saying just this.

There was no point in him sitting on the bench because he had about as much chance of seeing the field as anyone sitting in the stands. Cleary has his formula and won't change regardless of the game dynamics or form or anything else really.

Its bloody weird. You'd think some coach or selector would be able to break this hoodoo

All week long all I’m hearing from former Cork management and players is that Cleary is utilizing the bench too much!!!
Any fella I’ve spoken to says the likes of Corbett and Deane off the bench no more as their form is poor..

Maybe if he was polite and honest enough to have a chat with you about it, he didn't expect you to go blabbing on the Internet tbf.

I measured the Inniskeen pitch on Google maps. As it was marked-out when the satellite image was taken, it's a max-size pitch. Of course it's easy to narrow a pitch - but not so easy to shorten it.

The I compared that with Pairc Tailteann (where we played Louth in last year's championship, and which Louth could have opted for again). It's 5 meters shorter, and the same width (though as I said, widths are easily changed).

Not sure this analysis amounts to anything of use - i.e. doubtful that that difference was a factor in the selection.

Interestingly the same method of measuring (not sure how accurate it is) has Croke Park 1.5m short of max length and 4m short of max width (and it looks to me like there isn't room to make it wider without moving the substitution-zone marking off the grass). I see Wikipedia has it larger (max length and 2m short on the width). But I used the same method to measure Inniskeen, and that method showed Inniskeen as max in both dimensions. Planning to storm Croke Park with a tape measure on the next visit! ;-)
