Lads Brian Hurley is one of the greatest forwards i have seen hes had such a cruel career with injurys that could have finished him .....he has come back the most natural two footed player you would see as good as any from the Dublins or the Kerrys or anyone else ...has been a Cork player in a time and decade that has been one of the worst for the county team ...at least this year hes won a county and provincial medal with the Haven he so richly deserves.
I hope in the time he has left with the county that he can still win a big title and medal , i think this year he might have some better help up front from some of our promising young forward fingers crossed
I for one always love watching him play class act.

Ya hes a great forward but the poster was pointing out that hes not a consistant free taker or had the ability to consistantly kick a 45 the ones he kicked the last couple of days and lacked distance and the ones he nailed were hugging the crossbar that is not inter county standard free taking.

Im with you there Midcork. No doubting his commitment and dedication but it's hard to know if there's a better inside forward in Cork ATM?
Probably not, but there must be a better free taker. If not, we're going nowhere fast.

I agree with that. He's a great player, not only for his attacking play but also for the level of pressure he puts defenders under when they have possession. I always worry when he's not playing - i.e. about who's going to fleah out the defenders to the same extent, make them as jittery in possession, etc. A good freetaker, but we need better. Fair dues to him, he takes on those frees and 45s with 100% focus anyway. I have no doubt he's doing his best to improve at this aspect too - and it's up somebody else to be better, and to merit his place on the team overall.

Wrong here, he had massive amount of Injuries and a lot of the younger players look be flying fit.

Would you stop FFS . If you had an ounce of knowledge about Cork Football you could see that the players have developed physically since the championship last game. If you think a fella like John Cleary will stand still , you are deluded.

Hurley is incredibly talented. He is also incredibly erratic at times. You can’t have an erratic player on frees. The guy missed two with 20 yards on Sunday. I would not call him a good free taker.

Brian is not a specalist freetaker has the balls to take it on for club and county ....we do need more natural free takers for the county team...Cathail O Mahony has this in his locker another player be deviled by injurys .
