Cork Camogie 2022

That's a bit underwhelming isn't it?

I hate this bring it down to Church Road stuff - which will be an absolute nightmare to get parking or in and out of around 5:30 to 6:30.

FFS what's wrong with the Mall or the Grand Parade later in the evening 7:30 or 8:00 🤷‍♂️

Is it that the Gardai don't want to have to police it or what?

The referee used her common sense and let the goal stand. She was fouled so couldn't make contact with sliotar with her hurley. What would have been better disallow the goal, award a penalty and issue a yellow card.
If the penalty was missed, cynical play rewarded then
The ref did the right thing
Great post and not one pundit including Anna Geary and Sarah O'Donovan mentioned that it had to be a penalty if the goal didn't stand from play. The nonsensical insinuation that Galway should have got a free wasn't questioned by anyone. Sure we had a similar carry on from Donal Og regarding the jersey pull on Robbie O'Flynn after the AI hurling final. Sad!

Congratulations to both panels and their managements. (y) 🇦🇹🔴

Why was there no men on Sunday game panel for camogie final. There are always women for the hurling.
Our goal should have been disallowed as rules state ball cannot be thrown into net.
Hope Galway don’t look for a replay.

I think she threw the ball up with the intention of hitting it in. She was bundled off the ball by the Galway defender. Nothing she could do. Also Amy o Connor who I think provided the assist was poleaxed after the pass so it should have been a penalty. Nothing for Galway to be complaining about. They had plenty chances to draw level or win in the last few minutes and sent them all wide.

Agree with comments re Thompson. She is a fine hurler but, more fundamentally, she is a winner. Cliche alert, but she's someone you'd want in the trenches with you. We don't (yet) have such a character in the men's team. She did some great stuff yesterday, but one moment I really noticed was when she failed to pick a simple enough ball in space (it happens to everyone). Two Galway girls converged to overturn her, and her body position wasn't good to sustain this, but nonetheless she managed to sort her feet and held off the two Galway girls for a couple of seconds til support arrived. Think we eventually got a score off it. Ashling made sure we certainly didn't lose a score off it anyway.

At intercounty level she is hugely important.
The fact is though that her club Milford have a team of 16 to 21 year olds and one or two in their 30s. They played championship twice last year with 14 against 15
They are desperately trying to survive and she doesnt bother playing , turning up for training or even spectating regardless of what time of the year it is. Hasn't put on the jersey since 2021
The county is over now. Milford have a relegation play off coming up soon to drop down even lower in the league. She made a big point of referencing Milford in her interviews. Lets see what happens when the rubber meets the road next week.

Big problem there was when Milford were winning all Ireland clubs they had players from everywhere playing for them. That's fine until they retire or move on. You're then left with a gap, local players have packed it in when they weren't getting game time while the big transfers came in and the home grown players are pushed to the side. Same happened in ladies football with Donoughmore.

Intention doesn’t come into it. Section 15.1 of camogie rules state ball cannot be thrown so the goal was illegal. There will be an asterisk on this win unfortunately.
The girls should do the decent thing and offer Galway a rematch.

Very true and Galway should be allowed to have Davy coach them just for this game.

Don't think that's accurate.
Maybe if you outlined the transfers you are talking about?
My understanding is that the issue was not having a second team and not playing the league meant that only 18 or 19 players got a game at adult level every year
