Apologies to Dunmanway who i nominated for the worst town in Cork but after been stuck in main street Mallow for about 20 mins on Saturday it has to be the worst town in Cork.

Mallow, a balls of a place to get out of since they changed the traffic layout.

Youghal has a fantastic beach and heritage and the long awaited greenway should be a huge boost and do for Youghal what it did for Dungarvan.

Corks inland towns (Mallow, Charleville, Kanturk, Midleton, Mitchelstown & Fermoy) are mostly just backward semi-rural hellholes and thankfully almost all by-passed.

West and South Cork has great scenery, villages, towns and beaches but it still has the strange mystery zone of Dunmanway and Grimoleague to avoid.

We now do not even have to visit Macroom ever again.

If we only had a proper North ring road/by-pass now we could avoid all the bonfires, crime and the favelas of the Northside.

Yeah but You always get busy in Charleville as it is a bottleneck. Kanturk and other remote areas are just so quiet and sleepy.

I remember travelling through there as far back as the 1970s and, apart from outside Curaheen Church on a Sunday at Mass during the 1990s, it was the only place I ever saw treble parking with the inevitable restriction of the roadway. Someone said there was something in the by-laws of Charleville that permitted it. Seemed a tad far fetched other than the fact it was happening on a daily basis and the gardai seemed disinterested/powerless(?) to do anything about it.
