Not from the Irish Times or RTE's coverage when other outlets (Indo, Gript) ran with it.

Am I now more or less likely to view RTE/IT reporting as reliable?

If you leave an information vacuum there's plenty of headers who will rush to fill it.

Maybe the RTE or the IT see it as irrelevant info considering the crime, tbf it wholly irrelevant. Afaics the only entities concerned with his nationality are the likes of Gript/ The Liberal/ Racist/Xenophobics loons on twitter.
Besides it's hardly a vacuum, it was 24 hours.

Listen I respect your opinion but theres a definite trend from certain Irish outlets to omit info or distort the reporting depending on the nationality of the perp.

That's not some wild conspiracy theory.
It doesn't do anyone any favours.

With a big shift in migrant population anyway we will see more and more crime by migrants. That's just a simple fact. Not reporting it or trying to minimise its reporting is just stupid and totally counter productive.


We're just rehashing the same points now with a couple of pages so I respectfully say we leave it at that.

It’s normal for Irish media to withhold a suspect’s name & nationality within the first 24 hours of a crime report. The Irish Mirror published the victim's name last night, but I don’t think the murderer has been named or his nationality mentioned yet.
