Great player, with Cork blood. He was majestic in midfield. Came up with some huge scores and outstanding high fielding. Only 31 so certainly a shock retirement. Never lost a game for Dublin between his debut and winning his 6th All Ireland medal.
Huge loss to the dubs ,31 you'd think is young but he is also a long time playing at top level .top player ,him and james mccarthy gone and probably those decisions may influence others of similar era. Fantastic player ,it's a pity in lots of ways that gaelic football has descended into such a defensive negative game in ways ,it's has stymied the athleticism and football seen in the past.
