An unexpected consequence of marriage equality

Inagine my horror on discovering that one of these men is a Protestant.
So it's a mixed same-sex marriage and this was kept under wraps by the Irish media.

Not that they wanted a church blessing, O’Sullivan confided. “Matt isn’t that religious,” he said. “He’s actually a Protestant. He just likes lighting candles in Catholic chapels.”

The Irish media have other responsibilities such as Repeal the 8th

Nothing illegal about it. They're married and the only one that could annul/void it is one of the partners. They are entitled to leave their spouse everything. All perfectly legit.

Hmmm... you seem to be right however Ive no doubt that when the media spotlight is off this guy when his 'husband' dies, the revenue will argue it was never a normal marriage and if not get the money off the guy, bankrupt him in court.

The marriage would be considered 'voidable'

At the time of the marriage ceremony, either party was incapable of entering into and sustaining a proper or normal marriage relationship. This may be due to a psychiatric illness or personality disorder. It may also be due to the sexual orientation of one of the parties.

I think if they did this on the sly without the publicicty nothing would have been made of it, but now they've given the revenue a clear target. As many have said straight marriages have been entered into for purely financial reasons before and nothing has happened but they didn't go on a media tour about it.

Amazingly impotency is a reason to void a marriage too.

In this case of same sex marriage , the Tax man will require proof of penetration to consummate the marriage.
Will the Tax man have the balls for this type of investigation.?
