Can't any marriage that hasn't been consummated be annulled when it comes time to divvy up the spoils?
Wasn't there some fella who married his son in the states last year for similar reasons.
It was a woman so I could not in conscience do that. However, I made it pretty clear that in our house there was a wife and husband.
There is a difference between aCan't any marriage that hasn't been consummated be annulled when it comes time to divvy up the spoils?
There is a difference between a
Void marriage: spouses are closely related; one of the spouses was under 16; one of the spouses was already married or in a civil partnership
and a
Voidable marriage: non-consummation; no proper consent to entering the marriage (forced marriage); the other spouse had a sexually transmitted disease at the time of marriage; the woman was pregnant by another man at the time of marriage.
The principal difference between a void and voidable marriage is that, in the case of the former, because it is invalid from the beginning, it can be voided ex-officio; while in the case of the latter it is only the spouse himself/herself who can ask for an annulment.
This is the law in England anyway.
you another legal eagle, like Mattie?
A wikipedia eagle.
Nothing illegal about it. They're married and the only one that could annul/void it is one of the partners. They are entitled to leave their spouse everything. All perfectly legit. When the 85 year old dies, will the Revenue deem the marriage to be tax avoidance or tax evasion?
They have publicly admitted that the marriage is being arranged to avoid / evade inheritance tax.
The legal people will make the price of the house out of it, when the time comes.
