The US Supreme Court has confirmed that a draft ruling indicating the court may overturn the landmark 1973 Roe v Wade decision that legalised abortion nationwide was authentic, as President Joe Biden vowed to try to protect abortion rights.

Just like we do not understand the workings of the Middle East we find this about turn hard to fathom here in Europe. To understand the American psyche one has to go beyond New York or a trip to Disneyland, hire a car drive through the deep south then you will understand the real America. Yes you will return thinking the Healy Raes are Rhodes Scholars but thats their culture.

I lived and worked there and outside the big cities on either coast they are really backward in many ways.

In parts of the mid-West it is still the 1950's and some poorer parts of Alabama and Mississippi are akin too parts of Africa.

I did a road trip around the south in 2013 and it was one of the most foreign feeling places I have ever been, despite us speaking the same language and eating (mostly) the same foods etc.
