2023 Premier Intermediate football

Kerry can run their competitions as they see fit, that's their own business. But it's a farce that the Munster/Central Council allow them to enter their 8th highest rank side into the Munster intermediate club championship, and worse again their 16th top side into the junior championship. How it's been allowed to go on for so long is just daft.

Its not a like for like comparison as there are less clubs (59) in Kerry compared to about 260 in Cork
So when you look at it it as a ratio of the clubs in each county then it not far off

8/59 = 0.135
24/260 =0.09

So as a ratio Cork teams are higher ranked

Also i believe that there a 16 intermediate clubs in Kerry so ti would make it there 24th best team to enter the Junior Championship

Are you seriously suggesting the Cork system is better than Kerry’s? The only issue in Kerry is that East Kerry are dominant and the split season means there will have to be a rejig of fixtures. Other than that it’s miles better than Cork in my humble opinion.
I am we now have a great system look how competitive all our championships have been ...Kerry can do what they like i am not bothered but i do see where even one of the Cliffords said in an interview that the Cork system for the Divisions should be used in Kerry.

Not all of those 260 clubs are football clubs though. Quite a few are hurling only and more again may be ‘dual’ in name but not in focus

But, now in Cork there are more players playing football and more clubs focused on football than hurling.
Our big city clubs that traditionally held the power and control at county board level were very hurling focused, so traditionally Cork are a hurling county. There are more playing football in Cork at every age group now though.

Croke Park are going to stop the Cork system as it breaks the rule on 16 teams max in a competition. KOD told the latest county board meeting. Cork are cleverly trying to get round it though by now running the divisional/colleges competitions totally separately to the county senior championship, even awarding a cup to the winners etc. and then it’s the winner of that competition who plays in county senior QF.

I love the divisions and colleges, when competitive which one or two usually are, they really add to the senior championships but i think their day is probably done.

So CnM v Milltown Castlemaine, next Sun.,
Kerry teams have won 15 of the last 16 Munsters, in fact 15 different Kerry teams,

NB I see the Munster Council have already fixed the Kilmurry jnr match for Cloughduv next Sun but the CnM match just says "Cork venue"
were they holding out for a Fossa win and a big crowd in say Mallow?

Isn't there a poster here who thinks Cork are cheating.

Is this Corks best chance in a while or is that just wild thinking?

I'd say your spot on. Munster Council seeing €€ signs if Fossa had won. Still probable concerns over CNM capacity to host the game given the crowd there for the game against Killimer. The village itself is a nightmare for parking as well
