What exactly?Thought you'd be better than the above.
Over 2 IDs here I have repeatedly posted we need a new politics and at least one new party.
Our existing configuration perpetuates a paradigm created over a century ago. It is precisely because Ireland isn't Dev or the wilds of Kerry electrification that we need that new politics.
We need to politically move into the 21st century.
We need to shake off the plucky underdog, sure aren't we great all the same bullshit that this government passes off as governing.
We are a highly educated, confident, outward looking nation with resources a-plenty, natural, human , economic with a diplomatic weight well above our size.
We need a government with vision, guts, that are connected to people's lives and cares about making them better. A long term plan that inspires us and enables us to achieve things we can't conceive of yet.
Every other country takes that for granted maybe except Britain at the moment. The Norwegians and Swedes EXPECT it. The Icelandics actively chose their path for decades and plan their priorities in government accordingly. It's not hard. It's just that we are constrained by an outmoded politics no longer fit for purpose.
Flying cars?
Where exactly is this demand for a "New Party"? Renua with more tri-colours?
"New politics" for what?
A space program?
The people simply want good public services, prosperity, security, decent jobs and a place to live.
No alarms and no surprises.
They certainly will not rally around some chancer offering "new politics" or some "vision" as they are just simply too focking smart.
Ireland politically avoided all the nasty "isms" of the 20th century as well as the daft populism of the 21st as a mature stable democracy punching well above its weight.
Iceland has a population half the size of Cork and much less diversity or global connections for trade etc.
No point going on about the Scandinavian's (Ireland now has a Sovereign wealth fund like Norway) as they pay high taxes while the Irish just want the best of everything but refuse to pay for it or else they pay for it in huge sums and get worse outcomes (HSE) and we have politicians even telling them that they do not have to pay for things at all.
Why is it that those who want a border poll and keep telling us over and over that this is an awful place (A corrupt kip) constantly while at the same time wanting to convince others to join up in a United Ireland?
It always baffles me.
