Pubs reopening June 29th

Big change in culture here, couples with kids now stay in and have friends over and have a takeaway and a few bottles,
Many younger people are more into fitness than drinking these days,
Absolutely. The over 40s are definitely not going to the pub as much post covid. As you said, ordering a takeaway, buying the wine and socialising at home is far more appealing. No queues for the toilets, bed is 10 seconds away and you save a fortune. Wonder what sort of pub scene will there be in 5 years.

Also not having to worry about some random Begbie type drunk angry nutter wanting to stick a glass in your face. Cans and takeaway at home is the job once you get to a certain age.

I don't buy this. Not in the way that implies people don't like going to the pub. People like being in pubs, they like the socialising and drinking and having music on or sports on the TV. What they don't like is the price, having to get taxis, having to get someone to look after kids. And the price. And did I mention the price?

I went to the pub bank holiday sunday and enjoyed the craic, was able to stroll home, no need for a taxi, herself stayed home with the kids,
but if it was a case of needing a baby sitter and needing a taxi there is no way i would have went,

Myself and Ms.Moe went out for a few on Tuesday, I'd say I had 5 pints and she had 4, and the tab came to almost €60. That was the first time I genuinely took a step back and said this has gotten too expensive.

We've been enjoying a take away and a few cans at the weekends before heading out, I can see us just cutting out the going out element apart from special occasions. Even for the Six Nations we've watched the games at home as you could go out to the pub and suddenly you've dropped €50 before it's even 5pm.

Totally agree. Have zero interest in pubs now. A takeaway, few beers and a good show on netflix on a Friday or Saturday night is heaven for me. One night only though. Cannot do 2 nights in a row anymore! Wonder are pubs busy for the 6 nations?

Hence why I said you save a fortune👍

Truth. You could go out for one beer, a meal, and drive home. All to save cash. But what was even the point of going out then? To have soup and a sandwich with your one pint?

The days of getting rat-arsed for cheap and with no comeuppance are coming to an end. Tomorrow they'll be looking at fellas living until they're 90, and claiming the pension, and we'll have all the data centres in Meath, and global warming on our doorstep.

Love it while it lasts, I'd say. €50 before 5pm? A joke.
