Reducing The Minimum Wage Helps The Country

the reason the minimum wage in this country is so high is that the cost of living is high, gas, esb, food. i know with the likes of lidl and aldi things are getting better but it is still over 100 euro to feed a family of 3 for a week. gas and esb are set to go up. and the cost of getting to work if you drive you are screwed and the bus isnt that cheap either. the cost of both are set to rise. try to afford all this on 330 euro, and we still dont know how much it will be reduced to if it is taxed.

There`s a vicious circle there though. The cost of living is high largely because the minimum wage is high.

There were other factors too and unfortunately, these weren`t addressed over the previous 10 years. But still, the main reason you pay the amount you do in shops is because of wage prices being reflected in the final price.

BTW minimum wage rises in Ireland have always been about buying votes, not helping people out.
