the reason the minimum wage in this country is so high is that the cost of living is high, gas, esb, food. i know with the likes of lidl and aldi things are getting better but it is still over 100 euro to feed a family of 3 for a week. gas and esb are set to go up. and the cost of getting to work if you drive you are screwed and the bus isnt that cheap either. the cost of both are set to rise. try to afford all this on 330 euro, and we still dont know how much it will be reduced to if it is taxed.

There were other factors too and unfortunately, these weren`t addressed over the previous 10 years. But still, the main reason you pay the amount you do in shops is because of wage prices being reflected in the final price.

i don't think people on the minimum wage pay mortgages. and how do you figure rent will increase? they've been dropping for the last 2 years.
i cant remember the last time the government did anything to help the people.
the only essential falling is food. on minimum wage luxuries are a few and far between treat.
they gave them massive dole payments.
and helped them buy houses
and provided free 3rd level education
and gave them 25% savings accounts
