Perennials
A solo exhibition by Cork-based artist Eoghan O'Kelly
Based on the artist's past experience with neurological illness, Eoghan's practice explores the uncertainty of human life, drawing on imagery of human and plant anatomy to illustrate our connections to both mortality and abundance.
The show will consist of original, textile-based sculpture works which imagine a future in which humans have hybridised themselves with plants as a way to escape from pain. The resulting beings are at once grotesque and beautiful. While no longer subject to death or suffering, they are also unable to feel joy or love. The work asks the viewer to embrace human life in its entirety for fear of losing one's self in the search for safety.
