A group of past pupils and friends are eager to share the history of our village and our Convent and so invite you to join us in celebrating 150 years of ministry of the PSMG Sisters to the people of Carrigtwohill.
Re-enactment of the people welcoming three sisters in 1875. They arrived in response to an appeal to come and help the people who were extremely poor, due to the impact of a great agricultural depression and Landlords refusing to reduce rents.
The Exhibition will focus on the impact of the Sisters on the village. They have supported and continue to support those in need in a discreet and respectful manner, giving lifelines to many people.
The Convent has been a haven during challenging times in our country, during the Black and Tan and RIC raids, guerilla warfare, and the War of Independence. The convent door has always been open.
The Sisters are embedded in the history of the village. They shared the good times and not so good times with the residents of Carrigtwohill and quickly became know as and remain
