The Official Chelsea thread

No chance unless they stop spending now and ask everyone to take a wage cut. Giving the likes of Terry a reported £120,000 p/w, Drogba a reported £90,000 p/w and Lampard a reported £90,000 p/w ensures that everyone else on their books won't settle for what would be classed as a normal Premiership wage.

Unitl they get their wage bill somewhere in line with their turnover they'll always be praying that Abramovich doesn't do a runner.

Chelsea have made the biggest financial loss in football history (£140m in 2005). They are paying grossly inflated wages on top of grossly inflated transfer fees - even Ballack, who came on a free, will earn £20m from the club over the length of his contract. They are being run more like the Singapore Barings Bank office under Nick Leeson than something even approaching a football club. Kenyon & Buck's protestations of a new financial maturity & a future of solvency, liquidity & profitability are frankly laughable.

Chelsea are a joke financially.
