Israel is shitting itself!

Israel is becoming increasing isolated as it fails to adapt to the changing world engendered by the Arab spring and its political ramifications. The Prime minister of Turkey is about to visit Gaza and the Palestinians are about to make their case to the UN for recognition. Indeed the US veto may be needed to prevent this recognition.Israel is missing its old friend Mubarak and it cannot be surprised, after killing five Egyptian border guards that their Cairo embassy was attacked and they were reduced to asking the Egyptian Army to rescue their staff.

Turkey, realising that it will be never accepted by the EU, and stung by the killing of its citizens in the flotilla is looking to build its future with the emerging post revolutionary arab nations. Diplotmatically Israel is beginning to find itself in a very lonely place, and increasing depending for its survival, not on the generosity of strangers but on its armed might. Israel may not be able to continue to fund this military machine which is now needed for survival as a result of political myopia and poor leadership and its citizens are also now becoming restless.

FFS.

In fact, your whole post is a load of daft wank.

Not to mention that the US may have to choose between it's two friends in Turkey & Israel if relations continue along this route.

A lot cheaper to be friends with Turkey.

Why don't you offer your insightful analysis, o wise one?

Yup, Israel are losing infulential allies at a rate of knots and they've done everything they possibly can to stick two fingers up to the Obama administration. That settlement announcement during Biden's peace envoy was simply moronic.

They're likely to get about 80 votes at the UN assembly, which probably will be enough for recognition. Not that Israel will give much of a shit.

But it should.

Israel becoming isolated is not something to rejoice or gloat about. A heavily armed and militarized country (that may or may not have a nuclear capacity) feeling isolated and without a friend in the world is not a favorable outcome for anyone wouldn't you say? The world doesn't need another N.Korea.

I've always said one of the worst outcomes of the ill informed and almost uniformed condemnation of Israel is that it has become a rallying point and facade for an almost rogue gallery of despots, dictators, and hypocrites. It's a long sad sorry list that includes everyone from Idi Amin, Saddam Hussein through to Gadaffi and now it would appear Turkey. Turkey presenting itself as the savior of Arab peoples is almost insulting to anyone with a brains intelligence. The recent animosity between Turkey and Israel is in stark contrast to more historical friendship an alliance between those two countries. They were each others biggest trade partners at one stage and Turkey was to Israelis what Costa del sol was to the Irish.

The self pwnage in the part I highlighted is rib cracking. The reason why Turkey wasn't accepted into the EU is because it still has the death penalty, y'know they kill their own citizens , which in contemporary times has included Kurds who've they've dealt with in a similar manner regardless of international law or opinion much like the Israelis if you will. Then historically their is that little matter of over a million Armenians they wiped out at the end of WWI. Turkey posturing as the defender of an ethnic minority being persecuted by a superior military force ???????? Don't get me wrong I'm not saying that Israel behaves disgracefully at times is not a matter of debate, but is a point far more valid when it isn't made hypocrites like Turkey .

The point is about Israel though.

Turkey is turning east, Erdogan's government seems compentent, with some worrying tendancies, such as a fondness for locking up journalists, but it still is the most moderate muslim country in the region. It is also clearly democratic, mostly secular but with a raft of problems (the death penalty only being one of many blocking points for their EU accession, islamophobia is a far bigger aspect)

If Israel can't even manage to maintain normal relations with them, then it's got to look at itself really.

One can be critical of Israel without endorsing tyrants. Israel really, really needs to take a long deep look at itself and try to figure out why just so many peoples and countries dislike it.

And blaming it on anti-semitism (while, no doubt, a major issue), is a cop out.

No, it's still valid.
Just as any criticism of Turkey's (shocking) treatment of the Kurds by Israel would be valid, regardless of what Israel has been up to.
