Immigration Thread

One of Harris's first meetings after taking the top job was with the IFA, a photo op was included, he also specifically mentioned farmers in his maiden speech.

The dairy sector is in denial about it's role in harming the environment and it's contribution to GHG emissions in this country, no other lobby group has their influence over government, FG are terrified of upsetting them.
I couldn't give a shite about the environment. Let's begin about giving taxpayers actual value for money. Less quangos and ngos. Then we can start worrying about the farmers who actually feed us. Way way too many coxswain and not enough rowers.

DOL all at sea on news at one re the border issue, our desire to be best boy in the class has come back to bite us,
How present govt thought this would work out ok is beyond me, shur twil be grand,

Look at Georgia

In February 2021, Roderic O'Gorman tweets in Georgian notifying them of a new, extremely generous replacement to Direct Provision.

Georgia was a listed safe country.

Georgian applications rose from 41 in 2020 to 338 in 2021.

They remain a listed safe country, but 22% are granted full refugee status and a whopping 66.7% Humanitarian Protection.

Just 11% were rejected.

Georgian applications jumped from 338 in 2021 to a staggering 2,706 in 2022.

9% were given full refugee status but just 13% were rejected. They remain a listed safe country.

For context, Germany rejected 99.5% in 2022.

Georgians are now Ireland's biggest group of asylum seekers in International Protection.

Georgia's George Zurabashvilli says that Georgian asylum seekers coming to Ireland is "not right" as they're economic migrants.

What an absolute shitshow.

This seems to be the Irish lefts position on asylum seekers:

- No claims should be rejected
- No one should be deported
- They should all be housed
- All of the Irish should be housed too

It should be of no surprise to anyone that the system has effectively collapsed.

Irish politics is mess. Fianna fail, fine gael, sinn Fein, greens, social democrats, and the commies. None of them align with me. Aontu maybe but are they just sinn Fein lite. Things are grim.
