I wonder what real drugs were being smuggled into the country while the Gardaí, Customs and Revenue were busy with this lot

This shit is African bush weed valued at $0.20 per gram in Nigeria, it grows wild all over the gaff and it is full of steams and seed . It would normally be made into a few kilos of hash but I guess some bright spark decided to take a chance on it and sell it over here as weed, which technically it is but it would be like selling herring row as Beluga caviar.

African lads would be getting the odd kilo of this stuff in the post, its worth the risk for them, probably get a kilo over there for $20 and send it by post, if one in five get through they're laughing, sell it off to kids and norries who haven't a clue no bother.

Buy 2,000 kilos of it and ya $0.02 a gram all day long

Here's a price list there la

Anyone who's been to Africa will tell you that the only thing worse than their water is their weed

Largest cannabis haul in State's history linked to convicted Irish trafficker

Early investigations have pointed gardaí towards two of the country’s most powerful drug trafficking cartels.

I guess the lads deserve a pat on the back for all the "joint" puns they've been making but really, that's about the extent of their achievement on this one.

THE SEIZURE OF €37.5 million worth of cannabis has been linked to a notorious Irish criminal who fled the country to avoid being killed.
More than 1,800 kilos (nearly two tonnes) of herbal cannabis was found in wooden containers in Dublin Port yesterday afternoon.
The value of these drugs is estimated by gardaí at €37.5 million, making it the biggest seizure of drugs on Irish land. Higher quantities of drugs have been seized by officers before. However, these have been made at sea.
Although not believed to be directly linked to the Kinahan/Hutch feud, security sources believe that the operation was the brainchild of a convicted drug distributor who now lives outside of Europe. He is still believed to be pulling the strings of a large drug empire which brings cannabis and cocaine into Ireland and the UK.
The drugs are said to have originated in Africa, a location the suspected trafficker usually procures his cannabis consignments.
There are only a very small number of criminal gangs who would be able to move such a large amount of drugs, according to security sources.
“It essentially leaves two groups. The link between the two hasn’t been ruled out. The investigations are at a very early stage,” one source told TheJournal.ie
Gardaí, along with Revenue, had been working on intelligence they had received in the last month. They were aware that a large amount of drugs were to be moved at the start of the year, meaning that surveillance details carried out by the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (DOCB) had been heightened in recent weeks.
In a statement released yesterday evening, gardai said they conducted a “joint intelligence led operation with Revenue, the drugs & organised crime bureau supported by officers from the Dublin region.
A garda spokesman said: “This investigation resulted in the identification and interception of a consignment which arrived into Dublin. A subsequent search today the has resulted in the seizure of 1,873 kilos of herbal cannabis.
“The controlled drugs seized have an estimated street value of €37.5 million. Joint investigations are continuing both domestically and internationally with regard to this significant seizure of controlled drugs destined for the Irish market.

They should sell it on, see what they get for it, if it is worth what they are suggesting then it would go a long way to building a new hospital to help with this crisis in A&E's

It could be turned into oils that are used in medicines but the value of it still would be less than €100K.

This will be burned though, which really is probably the best thing to do with it. It only holds value for criminals who are more than lightly violent scum bastards who would be willing to kill for this crap low grade weed.

Class A tools

Running around locking people up for something like this.
Then back slapping. Kind of depressing.

I know its their job and there are probably scumbags involved in most of these cases but only because its against the law does it attract such people.
I don't eat or smoke it but I don't judge anyone who does let alone want them to go to prison.

California, Colorado, Netherlands, Portugal not illegal. Ireland maybe 10, 20 years ?
I am not pro or anti drugs just hate this side of law enforcement.

Imagine going to prison dealing grass - seriously people.

Look lads, weed is weed is weed. Doesn't matter if its high grade or bush. Its still fifty euro for two g.

This is the street value. In this country, lol, that's the going rate.

That guy looks like he has no arms

Is the street rate for say shoplifted penny's jeans and a pair of levis the same?

Nobody who smokes would pay €50 for 2 grams of that, even the Gardaí didn't value it that high Al M8.
