Just to add to it, there are organisations and charities who provide counselling at low or no cost in specific areas. For example, firstlight offer counselling to people who have suffered pregnancy or child loss. Ark House offer counselling to cancer patients and sometimes their family members etc etc.

So depending on the issue that your friend is dealing with, there may be a specific counselling service that can assist them. Feel free to PM me if you wish.

My mind in Crosses green do affordable counselling, or at least they used to.
As Matlock said, look for a counsellor in the field you require assistance in, as the wrong counsellor, even if free, will have a cost in terms of frustration, time and emotion.
Often, online counselling will be less expensive if that setup suits the person.
