Hey lads, I don't follow Irish politics much, but what was it that happened SF support exactly? I know there was some controversy there recently but can't remember what it was. This isn't a wind up: completely genuine question.

At 36% they were in essence the pot into which support for something other than FF or FG. That is to say not that 36% followed SF for SF but rather they were hoovering up the change vote.

Under MLMcD they then either deliberately or otherwise decided to self destruct by stepping on the immigration landmine set for them from the far right crew, by choosing government positions on the referenda and most importantly by scandal after scandal in particular their inability to protect children at all costs.

36 became 28 became 24 became 20 and is now 16.

No it's under the PIRA Army Council not Mary Moan, she is just a puppet of theirs

The public gave them a kicking in the locals for following government policy.
It remains to be seen will they return now again to them, after witnessing what happened in the US nothing would surprise me.

Much can happen still, No doubt the ditch have something up their sleeves, and likewise with the sindo, The TV debates will be telling, A short campaign will help FF FG, but i still reckon SF will poll maybe 22%.

The amount of new candidates cant be good for FG, I wouldnt be surprised if SF are very close to FF FG, I dont think recent scandals will be a factor, If they can pivot on immigration they will hold most of their seats, Likes of Laois, kildare sth, clare, kilkenny will be a test for them

Martin could want to cling to Power, he won't go back with FG so he can blame everything on FG. Go in with SF and keep them on a leash then and so that he and FF won't be attacked.
He could also go in with Labour and Indo's but Martin is power hungry so and he will want to leave a mark as outside of the smoking man he won't be remembered for much.
