The Zoo is very good.

The butterfly house is especially interesting.

Any time i go to amsterdam i just rent an appartment...it works out the same costwise and you have a bit more freedom...

f look up the zoo (artis) if ye like things like that, it has an indooor botanical garden too
Besides that there is a long straight road between sarphatistraat and rembrandtplein which is full of lovely shops and cafes which is well worth a stroll/pedal down as

Ya hotels are a waste of time in Amsterdam. The quality of hotels there in general is pretty low.

I usually book through www.amsterdamstay.com. Have used them many times and have never had hassle.

They do smoker friendly accommodation too if you're so inclined.
