Things you have changed your mind about

No, and i don't really know enough about perhaps where Haiti and the Dominican Republic's paths diverged so wildly.

I would love Ireland to be a more Socially democratic state where people aren't left so much to fend for themselves like some of the nordic countries. But we don't really have the resources for that. And perhaps the brand of socialism i witnessed was warped somewhat by the trade embargo but the sense that people were drifting and scrounging rather than flourishing was overwhelming. working in dead end jobs for a pittance, hoping to perhaps shake down a few tourists and no more.

We went buying a few cigars from young fellas outside the official shops and the Cops cracked down on them very hard. Like bounce a young lad off a wall hard. left us alone no bother.

Don't get me wrong i loved it, loved the country and the people but left notions about how things could have been different without the embargo behind me, the issue was the state.

That all rings true with my experience too, the obvious example of suppression is in the internet, like it wouldn't cost too much to give everyone in the country internet access, instead you need to buy a ticket, and go stand in a square frantically typing for an hour, it's wild, it's about controlling information, which would leave a shitty taste in your mouth.

The second thing is the dual currencies, probably implemented to keep prices down, but actually they lock people out of the finer things in life, like beef.

Hearing people in the Casa's on the house phone all day too, it would remind you of the 1990's, mad stuff.

When i was a younger man I would have gone to war on the basis the Chef Ketchup was the Alpha and the Omega of all Tomato Ketchup. These days i recognise Heinz as being the true Apogee of all ketchups.

When i was perhaps a pre teen I used to be weirdly Catholic, not in the sense of being a holy Joe and going to mass all the time but in the curtain twitching Conservative sense of it. Divorce, Abortion and General immoral living etc. i would have considered pretty bad. This must've come from school becuase my parents are not religious outside of being seen to go to mass at Christmas and Easter.

Now i dont give a fuck what a priest or Bishop says about pretty much anything and think people should live their lives as they deem fit as long as they arent hurting anyone, who am i to judge.

I once thought socialism seemed like a pretty good idea, then i went to Cuba for a bit and saw first hand the opressive power a state can bring down on an individual and stifle their freedom.

I used to think people were weird for not boozing. Now i see those people as basically more sensible than me (although i still enjoy a pint)
I've changed my opinion on voting for SF since the cunts pushed for a yes vote in the referendum.
Only reason I was going to bite fie them was hopefully to get rid of the current mob
