The Oscars thread (probably very gay)

Wouldn be surprised if they give best picture to Atonement, its really their type of movie, doomed period romances generallly come up tops.

Then again the acadamy love the Coens, interesting.

Hmm, maybe best director for No Country
Best Film Atonement (as LD says, they love that shit)
Best Actor, Britain's own (yes, I'm looking at you, BBC) D Day Lewis
Actress, dunno.
Supporting actress - they may find it very hard not to give it to Saoirse Ronan. And I say fair play, even for the accent alone.

we're claiiming Day Lewis, it says so on his passport. Hes renounced the tans.

The Guardian went for a sober 'British-born DDL, who took Irish citizenship...'

The Beeb called him British and then all sang Three Lions while drinking Stella and crying thinking about the poor Queen Mum, bless 'er 'eart.

In fairness like, he is completely British, although I used to think he was Irish for years after seeing 'In the Name of the Father'.

Whenever they mention him on the news here, it's always in the same 'Irish interest' bracket as Saoirse Ronan, the Irish 'Atonement' cinematographer and Glen fucking Hansard - kinda snakily claiming him as our own.
