This is part of Munsters problem. Not playing the long game and fast tracking foreign players into the team.Very few are here for the long haul and then our young academy players lose interest or become disillusioned and leave.Much the same with management, there has been no continuity with a game plan or strategy.Sadly our results reflect that and a lot of dinosaurs are still in the backroom staff being paid. There needs to be a major overhaul and clear out at this stage or Munster will never progress.Depth from academy level is the major thing. Leinster have more prospects coming through they could ever hope to meaningfully use.
Not all superstars but they could probably have close to 2 fully fledged provincial sized panels and the lower level squad would beat Munster more than Munster could beat the top team.

The Academy are sending through a good few players now, the Wasps away game showed that, then you add Coombes, Kendellen, Hodnett, Daly to that and it’s not in a bad place at all. I’m still convinced Leinster are benefitting from a “rising tide raises all boats” effect too. Sure they have stand out talent like Kelliher and Sheehan but a brilliant coaching setup helps the others. It will be interesting to see how the likes of O’Loughlin and Dunne get on in Exeter and the same for the lads going west, I think there’ll be a noticeable drop off. There needs to be a major overhaul and clear out at this stage or Munster will never progress.
If only the dickhead schools in Munster could turn out the same amount of dickheads that the dickhead schools in Leinster do.
