The Official Liverpool Thread - Part 2

Came across this again today. I know it was discussed on the PROC at the time

Interesting to think of the same under Klopp - some monster names that the club got a certain distance down the road with but couldn't convert: Bellingham, Tschouameni, Caicedo...Mbappe(?)

Then a load of guys who were wanted but, in hindsight, you're probably glad were missed - Gotze, Fekir, Texeria, Dahoud, Werner, Thomas Lemar (£65m bid accepted!)

Although every situation is different. Player tended to thrive under Klopp but massively underperform under Utd's rotating cast of post-Fergie managers.

Mount another one Klopp was very keen on. Jury still out on him though. Hammered by injuries since he left Chelsea.

Alisson,

Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson,

Szoboszlai, Jones, Gravenberch,

Salah, Gakpo, Diaz,

Subs: Kelleher, Endo, Nunez, Chiesa, Elliott, Jota, Quansah, Morton, Nyoni.

There’s 17 mins gone and it has all gone against Liverpool so far.

Fulham could easily have had two red cards before they scored and now Robertson sees red as last man and it was a last man tackle red card to be fair. Can’t argue with that but can definitely argue with the two bad Fulham tackles beforehand.

Is this really what you want? Lads sent off left right and centre for little or nothing? Not for me, there hasn’t been a bad tackle yet

Robertsons was red as he clearly took Wilson out after his mistake, the ref did you a favour by blowing it up though, chances are Jimenez would have slotted it home had he played the advantage

Question - if Robertson had hurt Wilson and VAR said it was off side, does the card for the bad tackle stand regardless, or have you a free shot at a lad if you know he was off? :)

What I want and what the reality of the current rules are, is very different. Diop caught Roberson high and a bit wild, he was lucky to escape red and would maybe have walked if it wasn’t so early in the game. Pereira’s wasn’t intentional as such but he’s stood fully on Gravenberch’s calf. You see a red for both these days. It’s not ideally what I’d like but it is the way the modern game is reffed.

In any case I think we’ve been lucky for periods after the red to not go further behind as Slot reshuffled the pack. Gravenberch playing CB in a 3 was the initial approach but it’s more of a 4-2-3 now. Gomez and Trent are inverting though and it means Fulham are getting in down the flanks fairly easily.

Hold on as long as we can and see can we sneak a draw but it’s not really the mentality of the players who are going after it almost too much and could kill them too soon by being too open.
