The Official Arsenal Thread - Part 2

I know the Arsenal fans are writing it off as being a season or 2 too early to be properly competing for Champions League but genuinely when you look at who's left it was some chance of a first European Cup. Beating Real Madrid over two legs would have been a tall order but whoever won that would surely be favourites in final.

There are no guarantees in football and next season's competition will see City frothing at the mouth, Liverpool will be back in it, that young Barca side will only get stronger with the right additions and Real are going to be better again with the probable signing of Mbappe. Bayern will be another who will strengthen considerably after a poor domestic season.

Big chance missed overall!
Aye. And Madrid are also reported to have signed the next Brazilian wonder kid.

M'bappe, Vinny, Rodrygo, Bellingham, Tchoumeni, Camavinga, is the bones of a great team for the next 5 to 10 years really.

Luckily for you you can give it Billy big balls for Europe next year having to face nobody bigger than Dundalk. Shirley not even ye can disgrace yerselves against that lot
They’ll be beating the shit out of everyone next season in “Europe”. :lol!:

Christ would ya listen to this bullshit.

MikOle: “We haven’t played in the competition for seven years; we haven’t been in this position for 14 years. There’s a reason for it, and we want to do everything”.“We have to learn it. It takes years to make it happen for every club, if you look at that”.

Maybe 2028 will be your year m8s.

:lol!:

The lack of recent CL experience is a convenient red herring.

For 2 seasons now Arsenal have been playing at a very high level. Only 7pts shy of City's points total during that period - and strong performances against the best PL teams.

That's an elite performance compared to sides across the top european leagues.

These days the CL isn't a wild west like the European Cup of the 70s/80s, where you have to deal with unfamiliar opposition, dodgy refs, partisan crowds etc.

The tactical decisions which Arteta needed to take across the 2 legs are very similar to those he has had to make in many of the games against top 6 sides in the past few seasons.
