Stuff that grinds your gears

My Granddaughter has a Beyonce in her class. Beyonce has been told not to wear false nails and tan going to school!
I was sitting near a Princess on the train recently enough. The father was telling little Princess how much he loved her and how she could have anything she wanted.. and then threaten the mother in front of her in the next sentence, with endless calls to others about how he was just out of prison and to tell this fella this and another fella that

Princess hasn't a hope already :(

And that was just their dog

I agree. Also I think it's pretty ignorant to get the spelling of someone's name wrong when there has been written correspondence. Happens in texts/ emails all the time.

One client when making an appointment by text constantly massacred my name every single time despite my own text signed off with my name.
Speaking of e-mails, when people begin them with openers like this, they are doing English wrong:

Hello John,

^ Wrong!

This is the correct way to write that opener, and if you think it isn't, congratulations on being wrong:

Hello, John.

The savage lottery of who you're born to. :(

Hello, John.
The way I was taught to start a letter was .......Dear John,
Having said that if I was to use a more informal opening I would begin with Hi John, or Hello John,

Perhaps you are correct with the comma after the hello but it seems wrong at the same time. I will give you the benefit of the doubt though ?. I think I have actually seen it written that way alright.

I doubt it's something people actually do though.

Fewer and fewer people. People mostly get it wrong, so it's becoming the norm.

I think the error stems from people thinking Hello, John should be the same as Dear John. Dear and Hello are very different kind of words. A comma always comes before a direct address, Chara021.

Let's eat grandma.

vs

Let's eat, grandma.

Dear FishY,

Stick your grammatical conformity where you stick your sounder.

Yours, Sincerely
