This will need to be a new redress scheme and afaik the terms of it haven't been set up yet.Have any of these religious orders complied fully with the redress schemes? Have any of them disposed of assets in order to compensate
victims?
I got multiple beatings of the cane in catholic run schools. Do I get rich now finally? This will need to be a new redress scheme and afaik the terms of it haven't been set up yet.
The organised church is pretty much finished in this country. They should sell up, give the money to the state to compensate victims and try and end their time by showing remorse and humility. I suspect they won't though.
I think the state should investigate all schools at this stage, even though I know that will delay redress. If they don't then there will need to be another report and redress scheme down the road when there are even fewer answers available.
David Quinn from the Iona Institute will be on shortly to tell us that he fully agrees with the tribunal and then shortly afterwards start defending all the religious orders. This will need to be a new redress scheme and afaik the terms of it haven't been set up yet.

Cop on will you, I got slaps of the cane myself but it pales into insignificance compared to what others suffered,I got multiple beatings of the cane in catholic run schools. Do I get rich now finally?

One issue that I see is that there needs to be an orderly dismantling of church assets. Lots of churches needs to be closed and sold on. Congregations merged etc. There is generally local objection to that though (even by people who rarely if ever use the church) and the church leadership is generally elderly and disheartened and don't have the interest (or possibly even the capacity) to do it.David Quinn from the Iona Institute will be on shortly to tell us that he fully agrees with the tribunal and then shortly afterwards start defending all the religious orders.
The Church sitting on prime land all over the country with way too many churches etc all that can be used to house people or community use etc.
McDonalds would be very quick to sell off all their lands and properties if there was very few customers.
Corporal punishment was (I suspect) legal at the time that you were in school. As such, it is hard to see how you would have a claim.Cop on?
There are many types of abuse and as a child this couldn't be described as insignificant.
Surprised you're alright with it.
Thank you for the explanation.Corporal punishment was (I suspect) legal at the time that you were in school. As such, it is hard to see how you would have a claim.
In any event, compensation in such cases is always on a sliding scale and given the appalling abuses being described in the report it is hard to see how "slaps of a cane" would be considered serious enough to make you rich.
