Redevolpment of Pairc Ui Chaoimh

Found a book in my parents house, Marking the opening of the stadium in 1976, original plan was to build on land on model farm rd but planning and objections put a stop to that,
With the help of cork corporation and munster agricultural society work started on the present site in April 74, 1m was original estimate but went to 1.3m,
Stadium finished in less than two years ,
Money raised by selling some of gaa owned land in Kilbarry and some of the land on model farm rd , Also a property sold 36 sraid mcdonncha?
The pitch was to be built on the old commercials pitch now in the hands of Bishopstown GAA

Vague memories of the day it opened up! Chaos! What a great decision to invest back then. Very forward thinking and a great asset onc see again for Cork.

Thanks for that I couldn’t visualise what they wanted to do.
No bother.

A fair few objections are lodged against it - I'm no planning expert but I can't see that being granted, plonking a bus entrance/turning spot on top of a green space, when there is bus access already from the other side of the stadium

The planners have recommended refusal in their report, but the Director of Service (who’s ultimately responsible) has recommended granting permission. So the recommendation to the councillors will be to approve the contravention and grant permission.

I fail to see the desperate need for this thing.

Struggling with it myself, is there not a bus drop off for matches and concerts using centre park road/monaghan road one way loop or did I dream up that great idea
