Jesus Jimmy, you are a bit late to the party. Go on the list with Gamestop. Remember there are two versions coming out, one with a disc drive and one without(downloaded games only)
Release date is Nov 11/12 so get on the pre order list. You might be lucky as they don't know how many they are getting

You don't need a smart TV, any TV 32" or above that does HD, 2K or 4k will do fine.
The young fella will want PS plus, and PS now, and the games are 80 bucks a pop, and with covid you won't have blockbusters for a while. It can all add up Jimmy.
Just make sure you don't add your credit card details to the PS5, or you'll be skint.
My advice is to give him a Nintendo switch (if he doesn't have one) to tide him over for a year, or get him an xbox.
He'll likely play minecraft 90% of the time anyway. looking at those graphics in 4k is a bit pointless.
