He is a figurehead for the Irish state and should not be offering comments on the private sale of a business that has its European headquarters in the State.

Pres Higgins has expressed his opinions on many matters. As well as being a head of state he is an academic and philosopher, we can't just hide him away in the Aras and have him tongue tied. He has strong opinions and sometimes he lets us all know. I don't think what he said crossed a line or anything.
