Anyone remember the Casbah on Emmet Place, it was supposed to be our answer to Dublin's Dandelion market. Can never find a photo of it.

I remember it, opposite the opera house on the corner.

They got a much better reception in Cork than in Dumpland I believe, so much so that a lot of their road crew were from here.

Not in the photo myself but know a couple of guys who are. Used be in the Kampus Kitchen and indeed worked in the Arc in the late 70s/early 80s. Vaguely recall Elvera's name, never dealt directly with her. But used to see some great live bands back then. Didn't think U2 were the best performers in the Arc tbh but in fairness they did give us a free gig out by the old baths in Lark by the Lee. Couldn't believe when walking back to town how crowded the busses were with teenagers presumably hoping to catch a glimpse of U2

I saw Graham Parker and the Rumour in the Arc a few times in those days. Great energy.

Pink Floyd in Cork

The legendary band only ever played one gig in the Republic of Ireland. Jack Lyons recalls being part of that sparse crowd at the Arcadia in Cork in 1967.
