A levy was added to all insurance policies to pay for the cost of PMPA when it went bust IIRC. Might even still be there!No Irish owned insurance companies, apart from PMPA, back then. Even Irish National were French owned afaicr.

Yep 3%. Not sure if it was applied to life assurance policies though.
If the levy hadn't been applied there would have suddenly been a huge number of uninsured drivers in ROI.
