It would be the FF counterpart obviously. Where Stacky is right is there were tentative green shoots at the time of the Greek GE, and that all the posturing and attempted bullshitting by Sinn Fein & AAA's buddies Syriza when they took over had the net effect of adding 10s of billions of euro to Greek debt.

Our debt has doubled as well. With thanks to you know who , the same ones that screwed Greece.

Our debt did not double because of the bank debt.

Most of our increased debt came from borrowing to keep public services running while we struggled to close the deficit.

We continued spending more than we were taking in
Apparently this is 'austerity'.

Things beginning to look alot tighter than a week or two ago, Fine Gael have sleep walked into this election thinking all was rosy in the garden, had they opened their eyes for the last few years they would have seen alot of protest out there, a year or so back that protest vote was inclined to support Sinn Fein and Independent s, now it is beginning to swing back towards Fianna Fail. The amount of votes Fianna Fail lost at the last election was so substantial that if even half of them return to the fold then they will be well in the frame.
Anyone for a Fianna Fail/Sinn Fein/Independents coalition based on getting rid of Irish Water and reforming the way we do politics?

Maybe you should move to Greece or Zimbabwe.

all very well for ff and sf to say they will scrap irish water and charges in election campaign, another thing to actually do it, when in govt, i can see a major climbdown,

Twoud be the death knell of any party to back down on that promise, especially if that promise has got them into government in the first place

What a difference 6 years makes - look at the poll and look at our politics now - there is no way FG will be in government without FF in future and it is just a question of who is with them - whereas above it is only one of a myriad of options based on the premise they wouldn't countenance official coalition just a few short years ago.
