Must.... Own....property....

We already have rent controls.
They don't work.
RPZS haven't worked at all.
Rents are only supposed to go up a maximum of 2% per annum
Year on year rents are up 5%.
Needs to be a rent freeze and a complete no fault eviction ban.
In other countries, if you pay the rent, you simply cannot be evicted.

Staying in a minimum wage job, long term, is generally a shite idea like.

But social housing, yeah.
Ag yes, people are turning down jobs and extra money to stay in minimum wage jobs.
For decades people could afford to rent on it, now they can't.
So people in Dublin on minimum wage shouldn't buy and can't afford rent.
I'll try again, Where should they live?
Do you not understand the question?

Any adult living in Dublin, on minimum wage, is one of a few things:

1: intentionally keeping their income low, to retain social welfare or housing grants.
2: fucking moronic, and should be on the first bus out of the place.
3: living with their mam and dad, from Dublin, and finding their feet/working a part time job while in college, etc.
4: is homeless.

Dublin is insanely expensive, surviving there on Minimum wage hasn't been possible for a very long time, the horse and cart have bolted a long time ago on that one, people were paying 500pcm to rent beds in shared rooms there 10 years ago, and it's not like things have improved since.

You had house keepers?

Cmere, you do know, that wasn't normal in the 80's yeah?
House keepers would call to do washing, ironing etc.
Mum would get help from girls in the neighbourhood to watch us and they'd get paid.
Au pairs the younger people would be called now I suppose.
They took us to the city to the park or to the Leisure club we were joined to play tennis or go swimming.

That's a priviledged upbringing, and not typical at all, especially for the 80's.

I grew up in the 90's, with two working parents, and we didn't have that.

You keep telling us that Cork is a "Shithole" or a "Kip"

Your life sounds like the final days of the Raj.

Which explains a lot......................

In one of the 1,000's of social and affordable houses or apartments that are being built for them?

My mother got a new knee a while back so i organised a cleaner to come in to her on thursday mornings.

Called in to her yesterday and she was stressed to fock hobbling around the place trying to tidy the place up before the cleaners landed. :lol!:
