Missing woman in Youghal.

How did he plead guilty ?

Richard Satchwell (57) appeared before a special sitting of Cashel District Court where it was heard he replied "guilty" when the charge was put to him.

Det Garda David Kelleher of Cobh Garda Station gave the court evidence of the arrest, caution and charge of the defendant.

He said that, when the charge was formally put to the defendant at Cobh Garda Station at 8pm on Friday night, Satchwell replied: "Guilty or not guilty - guilty".

I’d say Eddie Burke spent the morning saying “shut the fuck up Dickie old boy”

Bizarrely, neither the Times nor Examiner mention the fact that he said "guilty", which one would think was pretty important.

It became a murder investigation during the week, they found the remains and at the weekend they have the suspect in court, where he pleads guilty.

Farcical is it ?

And with regard to him being escorted by 7 detectives, that is for his own protection as well in case some local loons up there decided to have a go at him
RIP Tina. Seemed a gentle soul going by the tributes paid to her by her family.

Well done to the Gardai. Now it's over to the legal system. Hopefully a long sentence and maybe also a charge of wasting Garda time for this guy. Joe O'Reilly comes to mind when thinking about this case. Strange in this day and age that a forty five year old would not have a passport.

Does the victim's family get the opportunity to make a victim impact statement in the case where the defendant pleads guilty?

Just looking back at some old interviews, he was a fairly accomplished liar and brazen as fuck.

Here he gives a tour of his house to a journalist and photographer.

That is totally bizarre.

He bought her €40k worth of jewellery?

Also -

Richard, who married Tina in 1991 on her 21st birthday, invited Independent.ie into his home, which he said is a “work in progress”.

The odd wall here and there

Members of Tina's family travelled from her hometown of Fermoy to attend the court hearing where they heard that their taxes were paying for the legal aid for the person who murdered their sibling.

Poor Tina. RIP. Murdered by the person you loved and buried in the house you lived in. How fucked up is it that he carried on with his daily life knowing she was buried under the stairs the whole time? Aside from all the media stuff he did pretending to miss her, imagine just thinking "I must nip upstairs for a jumper it's cold this morning" and the image of her in a black bag under the stairs shooting through his mind as he went up the steps. Or if he was sweeping or hoovering the hall or had people over. The whole time he knew she was under the floorboards in a metre of concrete. So fucked up.
