probably knocked over by a confused cyclist.

i cycle a lot, and i briefly noticed the new 'lanes' in Douglas too. They make no difference to me - most of the time the paintings on the road are covered by the cars i'm weaving through.

Dangerous

I believe they will make a difference. Some cyclist will proceed with a false sense of security and get hurt. Meanwhile some more insanity.

The suddenly appearing lane in the middle of the road at the busy Turners Cross beggars belief. It is even worse coming from the other side. Images shortly.

Bike Accidents

A friend who lives on the main Douglas Road has personally seen TWO motorbike accidents in the last few weeks. None in the 20 years before that.
I appeal to the Gardai, the Road Safety Authority, and anyone with common sense to get these very dangerous and confusing road markings removed immediately.

Money to Burn

Todays Cork Independent. €400,000 being spent on the Cycle lane project.
Parts of it are being wasted.
Here we see lines were painted on the road, burned off, repainted.
No sane cyclist would venture between these two lanes of confused cars.
Someone will, probably has, be hurt or killed.
The Douglas Cycle Lanes cannot work. More signs will only make it worse.
City Hall are as blind as Brady to reality here.
