Junior A Hurling Championship 2024

Buttevant will walk this competition although missing 1 or 2 key players from what I believe… realistically are too good for Junior B but let’s see what they can do next year When/If they make the step up to Junior A. They have a solid enough team to compete and the addition of young O’Brien who was a Cork Minor panellist this year will give them a massive boost for the future .

Rumour is Ballyclough are struggling for numbers so can’t see them making it any further then Friday evening.

I’d expect Iveleary to be too strong for O Donovan Rossa although o haven’t seen them play this year O Donovan Rossa were very poor against Buttevant … 1 or 2 decent hurlers max.
The claw have never been stronger

I think Buttevant will win that game by 7/8 points. Local derby though so should be interesting!
Let’s be real, Buttevant have the ability to be Junior A but simply dropped to Junior B to put more focus on football, and to win an “easy” county medal. Couldn’t face up to tough games in Junior A, even though they have the quality.

Ballyclough got to the final last year and are definitely good enough to beat them.

Rossa and Ivleary will be a very even game but ultimately the winner of Ballyclough and Buttevant should go on to win it out.

Having seen buttevant play, I don’t think it’s a certainty they win. They overly reliant on mark linehan and if a team can keep him quiet, which is simple in theory, force him right, they don’t have other options to score. I would strongly disagree that they are a junior a team, at least not a good one anyway

I tend to agree with you. I saw them this year too and take Mark Lenahan out of their team, and they'd be relatively ordinary. Mark is a serious operator in both hurling and football. He is averaging 2-10 a game in the Junior B hurling this year, with most of that coming from play. He will take serious stopping at this level. Going by results, Ballyclough seem to be also having a strong campaign this year too. They will give Buttevant a rattle in this local derby. But I think Mark Lenahan, again, should be the difference.

They only beat Araglin by 4 points in league final so say the step up to Junior A in Avondhu might be a tough task. Araglin haven't had much luck up Junior A, losing all their group games last year.

Finnegan will give him plenty of it
