Could be a catalyst for more of the same. Surely there must be 10s if not hundreds of professional footballers throughout the leagues who are gay, and this is what they needed.

I recall a Bundesliga player coming out a few years ago and it was embraced by fans and players. I can't help but feel that the UK will be a little further behind and no doubt he'll be abused, but fair play to him.
