And any idea of how much it would cost?

Looks like an easy enough job to yourself. Just order the kit off of ebay

They are a bollix to take apart. I took mine to PC services. They are in lane next to square deal in Washington Street. If they cant do it they don't charge .

Apple need to start to get the classic back out on sale. I would buy a new one in a heartbeat. the fucking battery on mine has started to give up the ghost.
