National flag: The national flag is defined as "the tricolour of green, white and orange" (Article 7).

Stand, sit or lie down...

Up to you.

There has never been gold in our flag. Possibly some sort of revisionist Republican spin has people thinking there is. As for the song...who knows what flag they are singing about.

There is a song "The Dying Rebel" which mentions gold in the flag but I think that might be a bit of poetic licence as gold rhymes with bold, where as Orange is difficult to rhyme something with.

"My only son was shot in Dublin,
Fighting for his country bold,
He fought for Ireland, and Ireland only,
The Harp and Shamrock, Green, White and Gold."

Is it not supposed to symbolise peace between the 'green' and 'orange' sides? Not much chance of that when the see the likes of the Dinosaur that is Mad Duff Adair on these pages with his bitter and sectarian Unionist venom.

So to answer your question it's Orange.

Green White & Gold....

If on every ocean the ship is a throne
And for each mast cut down another sapling is grown
Then I could believe that I`m bound to find
A better life than I left behind

But as you ascend the ladder
Look out below where you tread
For the colors bled as they overflowed
Red, white and blue
Green, white and gold

So I had to leave from my country of birth
As for each child grown tall
Another lies in the earth
And for every rail we laid in the loam
There`s a thousand miles of the long journey home

But as you ascend the ladder
Look out below where you tread
For the colors bled as they overflowed
Red, white and blue
Green, white and gold

Oh For F**Ks Sake!!!

It has ALWAYS been Green White and Orange.

Poetic license has it Green White and Gold because in verse very very few words rhyme with Orange while plenty rhyme with Gold.

"revisionist Republican spin"
