Beagling, harrier clubs on foot are still popular. Fox hunting is still legal As far as I know.

So what is it that the Beagles chase? And do they catch and kill their prey on occasion? Or is it just a scented-trail with no actual quarry like a drag-hunt?

Beagles chase a hare, rare enough to kill maybe one at start and end of season to keep the dogs hunt hungry.

Make great pets the ones who don’t like to hunt.

I don’t think so as far as i know hunting with dogs and horses is still going on.A quick Google says foxhunting is alive and well. As a kid I used to go hunting with beagles but that’s many moons ago.
