City Hall's Panaban failed. They have come back, egg covered faces, with bribes, corruption, collusion, lies.
Recently two Developers featured on the front page of the Examiner, supporting Panaban. So, collusion between the Building Industry and City Hall.
Why is White Street Car Park gone? Hundreds of affordable conveniently located Car Parking spaces sold to Developer. With projects this size, bribery and or corruption seem likely to certain.
Free Parking in the slow hard to get to multistoreys, well, not exactly free, the lost revenue will be paid for by our Taxes.
City Hall are desperate to impose Panaban to save face, be right. They refuse to accept that it was a daft idea. Their current actions and waste of public money is tantamount to Bullying. Similar to their commitment to the failed River Walls misadventure. The many failed and abandoned Cycle Lanes e.g. South Douglas Road. They are adamant at continually eroding access to the City for those who can't wait for non existent buses hundreds of Metres from both home and destinations. Unaccountable arrogant in effect anonymous Mandarins and Mandarinas.
They are trying to overwhelm reality using power and money. Pana is empty frequently now, Billy McGill's daily photo project proves it. Traders are showing accounts 35% down. City Hall say Footfall is up. What Footfall? Where exactly? Compared to before the Christmas period in a recovering/booming economy? There is not an iota of credibility in their Spin. It is worth remembering this is the same City Hall which for years paid it's Lord Mayor more than any European President.

Thanks I didn't know that. Sound like a potential Ghetto? IMO they would be better served using CPO to purchase the vast, literally acres of built and renovated empty buildings throughout the Nano Nagle Scam. I keep reading a figure of 200,000 empty buildings, story? In any case removing hundreds of Car Parking Spaces from the City Centre is clearly threatening the viability of commerce and indeed life there.

If the ban was lifted what would traders blame in three months time if town is still struggling?

No it isn't. Traders in Cork have a notion that Cork is a small regional town and everyone should be able to park wherever they want to do their messages. Cork is moving on - the likes of Navigation Square and Horgan's Quay will bring 8k office workers to the city centre in the next few years. If we keep prioritising cars then Cork will go the same way as Dublin choked by traffic. The Dubs are finally realising their errors and trying to retrofit public transport which is hugely costly and should have been done years ago. Cork needs to avoid making the same mistakes.

Correct, i came out of merchants quay through the door facing the river yesterday lunchtime a bus tried to pull into a stop but was unable to because of a car parked there with the hazards on and nobody in it,

Naysayers

Dublin is a Flat classically designed English City. Apart from easy cycling on wide streets, it has relatively great Public Transport.

Every Traffic initiative from City Hall has been batshit. From Washington Street to 7 Metre width of footpath on Patrick's Bridge to abandoned Cycle Lanes.

Why are you posting images of units to let on Pana while creaming yourself over Dubland? Have you actually been on O'Connell Street lately? Absolute kip full of abandoned units, chippers and arcade joints. Pana is a million times better than that kip in Dubland.

A quick history lesson for you, MisterX, Bill O Reilly and DanDan are all the same posting gang and they have serious issues with Cork City Council :)
